Cyprus is an independent sovereign Republic with a
presidential system of government. The population of Cyprus adds up to
837.000 (End 2004) citizens, of whom 77.8% are Greek Cypriots, 10.5% Turkish

The island is a member of
the European Union, United Nations, U.N. Agencies, the Council
of Europe, the Commonwealth, the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe and many other International Organisations.
Being a member of the EU allows all citizens (EU passport holders) of 25 member countries to join First Select Cyprus, submit their CVs and be considered for excellent employment opportunities. Cyprus’ lower cost of living, peaceful and welcome environment in addition with having one of the lowest crime rates in Europe, makes working and living attractive in the island.
Foreign nationals, except in cases of EU nationals, will need a work permit in order to work in Cyprus. The present policy highlights that an employment permit is granted only on a temporary basis and for a specific position that no suitably qualified citizens are available.
